Dr. James Rayburn

President Rayburn has served as a Youth Minister, Military Army Chaplain, Kentucky District Bishop, and Assistant General Bishop of the Southeast Division of the Pentecostal Church of God.  He has a B.A. in Christian Ministry from Southern Bible College, a M.S. Degree in Guidance/Counseling from Radford University, a M.Div. Degree from the Assemblies of God Graduate School, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.   He is also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Board-Certified Chaplain.  He is married to Mimi Withrow Rayburn, ARNP, and has two daughters, Candace (Jacob) and Carlyn (David), plus two grandchildren, David and Renee Alvarez.

President Rayburn has served on the Governing Board of Messenger College since its existence, with a three-year exception while stationed with the US Army in Germany. Since returning, he served as the Chair of Counseling for Messenger College, until becoming the Messenger College President in 2021.
